5 Step Outreach

As we become fully devoted followers of Christ, our attitudes and actions should reflect His love and compassion toward others. In Luke 15, Jesus taught parables about the importance of reaching one lost soul. Throughout Jesus' ministry it is evident that He didn't let social or cultural boundaries prevent Him from reaching out to anyone. In His own words, He "came to seek and to save what was lost" (Luke 19:10).

Who are the lost souls that God has placed in your life? Each of us has a sphere of influence in our life, and it is no accident that you have the relationships that you do. Stop for a moment – and think and pray about who God might be prompting you to reach out to. Then follow the practical steps listed below.

  1. Spend time with people at work or in your neighborhood.
  2. Listen to them so you can get to know them and realize their needs.
  3. Pray for the needs that are shared in your talks.
  4. Serve them by meeting these needs as you are able and led by God.
  5. Share your story with them as God makes the opportunity clear.
