1 & 2 Chronicles
Redemption and Revival
There is an iconic verse found in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
This verse expresses the heart of a God who wants to redeem His people back to Himself. We have been exploring this theme of redemption since January. As we study scripture, I am consistently reminded of how the idea of God’s redemption is clearly woven throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation.
Within 2 Chronicles 7:14, we find five significant reminders
The key linchpin in all of this is repentance. We must change our hearts, minds, and ways and move towards the things of God. As you enter your week, I challenge you to do so with humility and prayer, seeking the face of God and walking with Him.

Within 2 Chronicles 7:14, we find five significant reminders
- Reminder One: Our identity needs to be found in Christ alone (if my people called by my name).
- Reminder Two: Our posture needs to be one of humility and prayer (humble themselves and pray).
- Reminder Three: Our attention needs to be on seeking His face (and seek my face).
- Reminder Four: Our life needs to be heading in the right direction in repentance (turn from their wicked ways).
- Reminder Five: God promises to forgive and heal (I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land).
The key linchpin in all of this is repentance. We must change our hearts, minds, and ways and move towards the things of God. As you enter your week, I challenge you to do so with humility and prayer, seeking the face of God and walking with Him.
